I had the same battery usage problem when ATT did the Gingerbread firmware update firm version 2.3.6 from 2.3.4. The only way to fix this issue is using Entrophy512 method #1 (which is the easiest). You need to revert back to the original GB Android version of 2.3.4. The build # should be UCKH7 not UCKK6. There are links provided by Entropy512 on step by step instructions...

Has there been a fix to the 2.3.6 OTA update so it does not decrease the battery life? Havent heard anything on whether or not there is a newer update for the samsung s2. I am one of those that reverted back to the 2.3.4 because the 2.3.6 was a battery hog. Any info on this situation would be helpful.

Andied-I reverted my phone back to 2.3.4 after downloading the update. It just killed battery life. Now my phone stats are the same you have indicated. Entrophy is correct about the modem part. It really doesnt effect the phone that much but reverting back to the original software did increase the battery life. Am still amazed that ATT would release an update as flawed as...

I tried this work around with the WIFI sleep policy. It helps some but the new update still severely decreases battery life. The update does fix the security issue and AP mobile data hog problem, otherwise not much different from 2.3.4. I never experienced the problem with the AP mobile. Battery life is more important to me so I changed back to the previous software 2.3.4...

AGAIN!!. DO NOT PROCEED with the update. The new update will decrease battery life by more than 50%. Battery life was just OK with the existing software 2.3.4. After I downloaded the update to 2.3.6 the battery life gradually got worse over the next few days. The battery would eventually die after only 12 hours. I downloaded a battery monitoring app to confirm this. With ...
