I don't work for AT&T but I don't think unlocking a phone has anything to do with the length of your account. It has more to do with the concern of recouping the subsidied phone cost. It would be tough for them to say "ok, we will do that for all 20 years + customers no matter how many phones they get"

You are right entropy. I meant to say that no one reported hard bricking for the ics roms I have used. The ATT leaked rom obviously is notorious for having issues.

Well surprise! None of the 3 employees of ATT called me back after setting up specific appointments. I have decided to stop trying to go through the same process now. I have all the call log and names of employees on this request for external complaint process to show I have gone past all reasonable channels. Anyway as to my phone, I flashed an ICS rom from xda forum and ...

Agree with you bmgoodman. Not sure why ATT insist on being software developers. Maybe there are more profit on it than I I understand and also as a platform to block any software that can intrude in their profit margin (VOIP apps, wallet apps, messaging apps) as they learned a hard lesson with imessenger. I guess expecting a service provider to just make money off service...

Just to report back, the representative who promoised to call last friday never did. I called in on monday night to follow up and asked to be escalated to an individual that can help me. After transfering back and forth and explain the case 2 more times for 2 hours, my call was dropped and did not get a call back. I called them back and waiting in queue for 40 mins and fi...

That is also an acceptable solution for me. Even though I will probably need to pay more to get another phone, at this point I am ok with that because I am really not trying to gain in the situation. The i777 was working wonderfully in 2.3.4 even though i hit the AP mobile bug but ATT was able to waive the data overcharges. I could easier have the phone standby for just o...

Sorry for not reporting back earlier. I finally got a call back from ATT 2 days ago. The customer representative started with "well, it is a battery issue and you have a smartphone which battery can be used up quickly". I explained the whole thing again to her and she basically just totally cut me off and said "well you can still use your phone can't you?". What the heck ...

Thank you Entropy. I did mention those information but I was told that since Samsung and ATT are not the "software creater", it is not their responsibility. I kindly asked who would be responsible in this case, neither Samsung or ATT were able to find the information but ATT has escalated that to "urgent care management case" and will get back to me in 72 hours.

Just got off the phone with ATT. After I explained the problem, ATT pointed finger at Samsung as expected. Instead of being forced to hangup and call Samsung, ATT was willing to do a 3 way call with samsung. After I explained the issue to Samsung, he indicated that it was a "software" issue and has nothing to do with Samsung as Samsung didn't create that software. Samsung...

Your font really sucks, i can't read it pass the first paragraph. But I agree, some time a year or 2 ago they have put some throttling/load balancing where it has a real impact on connection speed. I am paying more than I ever did, but getting less speed. I always had 5.5mbps on 6mbps plan. But now hovering around 3.5mbps on peak time and ATT said it is "acceptable". I di...

The password for wifi usually is the key for the wireless router. I don't think this is a special case here specific to the phone.

I have confirmed that ATT has paid for my overage for the last 2 months. However I am still bothered by the fact that there is no quick fix and i don't feel like calling them every month for the adjustments.
