The blue dot on showing your location on the app map comes from the GPS chip ON THE PHONE, not from AT&T. In other words, the phone knows where it is, which is not the same as AT&T knowing where it is. If you want to find a lost or stolen iPhone, you need to use Find my IPhone, which only works if the phone is turned on.

How long ago did you get the email from AT&T? AT&T doesn't/can't actually unlock the phone. Only Apple can unlock the phone. All AT&T does is approve and send a request to Apple to unlock a specific iPhone IMEI and Apple does the actual unlocking through the iTunes server. Also, did you connect the phone to iTunes?

Only if you are on the NEXT plan that allows you to trade up after 12 months. For the normal contract plans, it's after 2 years

AT&T doesn't put a single app on the phone. The only ones on there are the ones you put on and the ones Apple has built in as part of the iOS. You can delete the ones that you put on, but apple doesn't let you delete any of the built in apps.

Assume that you have already tried the unlock portal? That's the only way to unlock the phone. https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/ No one is doubting that you bought a phone that is locked to AT&T. Where did you buy it?

No lie involved. ATT won't let you use the hotspot if you still have the unlimited data plan. The function is disabled on the phone. As they said, in order to enable it, you have to swap to one of the tiered data plans.

Since you've had the phone for at least 4 months, I think the only way to get a different color is to buy one and then sell your old one to get some of your money back. I don't think even the Next program lets you trade in a phone in that early.

Yes, they are making a choice to not allow tethering on a grandfathered unlimited plan. That has always been true. People have a choice to accept their rules or swap carriers.

Apple doesn't make the decision to unlock an iPhone. The carrier does. Apple only performs the unlocking for the carrier.

If you bought the phone from AT&T, it's locked to them, even if you paid full price. You have to request an unlock using the unlocking portal.

Just like hard drives, your iPhone doesn't actually have the stated capacity. Everyone advertises 1 GB as 1000 MB, but it's really 1024 MB. Something advertised as 8 GB (8000 GB) actually only holds 7.8 GB of data.

Not immediately. If you cancel during the buyers remorse period (14 days?). After that, you are into the contract and have to pay the early termination fee to get out of your contract. Also, according to the device unlock portal instructions, your account has to be active at least 60 days before they will unlock it. https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/

After you get the phone and activate it, you should be able to swap your account over to a non-data plan phone. You will have to tell AT&T that you are using a non-smartphone and provide it's IMEI number to tie it to your account before you can drop the data plan. Since you got the iPhone as an upgrade, it's still under contract whether you use it or not, and won't be elig...

If you get the iPhone 5 from AT&T, it comes with the nano SIM already in it.

Have you looked at the iPhone manual? The symbols are on pagees 10 and 11. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf What you describe sounds like the Bluetooth battery icon

If you buy an new AT&T locked iPhone, it comes with the micro-SIM. If you buy the unlocked one from Apple, I don't believe it comes with a SIM.

You also need to check your settings on an iPhone. There are a lot of settings that will automatically connect and use up data without you knowing unless you turn them off or adjust the frequency, like diagnostic data, push email, automatically checking Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Not possible at that price without a contract. No contract phones are $450 more than the $199 contract price ($649 total).

I ordered from Apple as an upgrade and didn't have to call anyone. I just turned on the phone as it comes out of the box and it steps thought the activation. Logged onto my wifi, it asked me to verify my phone number and asked if I wanted to activate over wifi. I said yes, accepted the TOC that popped up on the screen, and in less than a minute, AT&T appeared on the top li...

I suspect Saturday is too late for the first batch due for delivery this Friday. I think AT&T sold out diring the day last Friday. As for when the next batch is due, that's entirely up to Apple making them and shipping them to AT&T, and there probably is no exact date for that yet.

This is common during phone releases. An order number from Premier can show up on both the regular AT&T and Premier systems, and say different things. Also, usually it will sit in pending or processing for a long time until it suddenly changes to shipping. Having gone through this twice before with my last 2 upgrades, I recommend just sitting back and not worrying about wh...
