Thanks. I always struggle with this. Wonderwhich would be the most secure. Normally, it's not as big of a concern, but the NAS will be on all the time. Thanks again for all your help!

SomeJoe, I took a closer look at the instructions and thanks for the step-by-step. Have a question though. Is configuring the system this way going to open any security issues for unauthorized connection from the outside world? Looks like the setup is going to use the router as the wireless access point instead of the uVerse Residential Gateway? Thanks so much for the hel...

Thanks so much for the information. I will give it a read over tomorrow, probably is pretty complex. I currently have an Airport Extreme that is acting as a bridge for USB printing. Would I be able to use that router for the configuration that you referenced? Thanks again. Ee

Hi all, I have recently purchased a Synology NAS drive and have added it to my network. The NAS drive has the ability to sleep after a specified amount of time with no LAN activity. Unfortunately, the Residential Gateway is constantly chatting and the NAS sees this as LAN activity. Here is my current configuration. Residential Gateway acts as wireless access point, intern...

Thanks for the reply. Ethernet would probably be the best to go as there is a port on the back of the receiver. Or, could I also use an AirPort Express? Ed Sent from my iPad On Feb 12, 2012, at 10:43 PM, DIRECTV Technical Help Forums<> wrote: Notification of Reply

Excellent. On a related note, in the event that I disable the wireless piece from the RG and want to restore it, what is the recommended way to restore the settings to default? Thanks, Ed

Thanks for the information. I assume that I would just need to plug the RG into the WAN port on the AirPort Extreme? And for the AirPort Express, I would just join that to the AirPort Extreme network? Ed

Folk, Thanks for the information. Have you lost any capabilities by abandoning the RG as your wireless connection? Ed

Hi all, I currently am using the RG as the main wireless point with an AirPort Extreme in bridge mode for wireless printing with the printer that is connected to the AirPort. What I would like to do is flip it so that the AirPort would be my main wireless network point with the RG acting as the high-speed modem. I envision having the phone, high speed, and set top boxes c...

Hi all, I just ordered U-verse and after reading some I am a bit confused/concerned with the installation. Currently I have DirecTV wired to one TV on the first floor. I have Time Warner cable, wired to a second floor bedroom through coax. What all is involved with the installation? I can easily lean behind the TV to disconnect the DVR box for DirecTV. Do I need to make t...
