I was embarrassed about how long it took me to figure out the I needed to put the apps I use on the home screens. I navigate the apps infrequently, making it unlikely that I would select an AT&T billable app. I agree that I should be able to get rid of them. And it would be nice if I could use the Google calendar app.

I searched and never found that. So they think that they fixed it on Nov. 6. Bought my phones on Dec. 20. Exchanged one two weeks later. All three with numbers in the "bad" range (starting 3518). Not a confidence builder.

The real problem is that the Samsung Calendar cannot designate the gmail / google calendar as the default. I am not an expert, but from trial and error I found a few things: make sure sync is turned on for your gmail account, for calendar. that should pull updates from Google to your calendar. If there really is a problem with Samsung's 2.2 upgrade, I agree with Zev (comment above). Let them test it and get it right so it works well. But why did they adapt the phone to make it so hard to update? Why turn off tethering when AT&T tiers broad band support? And why load it with their own features, especially if that makes it so hard to update? And don't get me star...

We (my wife's captivate) experienced the problem, and we exchanged the phone. Here are what I consider the fascinating parts of this: on July 30, a writer on this chain reported that if they turned off the power management feature, the problem stopped, and many readers confirmed this solution. If course this is a work-around, not a solution. AT&T seems to be unaware there...
