Yeah, while it fixes it somewhat, the GPS is still inconsistent and inaccurate because the problem is a hardware issue with the Captivate. No amount of software tweaks will make it 100%.

Exactly. I have tried that app and it does work fine, but seeing that all it does is utilize an existing android feature there's got to be an easier way.

Just wanted to bump it to the top So far I've seen 'hold back button while pressing home (or menu) key'. Apparently for most people this launches the screenshot .com process but does not actually take a screen cap. Everyone else I'm finding who has done has done so accidentally and can't recreate it.

Never mind, once you exit and go back in to edit apps, the icon for 'email' shows up. Thanks for the tips.

Wow, thanks for the reply, awesome advice. Never knew that existed. 'Hidden' menu options are a problem with android and mobile OS/phones in general I think...too much hidden away. FYI, once you drag an icon there, there's no need to save, it automatically does it...which is kind of a bummer, I was just testing and now the 'email' shortcut is gone but not in applications....

Part of the update of 2.2 includes this following Home Screen feature (per Samsung/AT&T referring to the android 2.2 update in general): "The Phone, Application, Contacts and Messaging now have dedicated shortcuts on the Home screen, making it easy to access them from any of the 7 home screen panels." My original setup was phone, email, web & apps for the dedicated shortc...

Wild Banchi, your phone most certainly does NOT have 2.2 on it.

This makes perfect sense. As always it comes down to the almighty $ and GREED. As I'm sure AT&T was fully aware of these terms prior, it rests squarely on their shoulders to satisfy their customers. All of you AT&T apologist fanboys need to quit bending over for them.

Although we're all upset about the 2.2 update, or lack thereof, I still want to say something nice about my Captivate. I think it's the best looking Galaxy S phone. I appreciate it's physical design and shape as opposed to the knock-off iPhone looking style of the Vibrant, Epic, and Fascinate. Also, I wanted to pass along that running the GPSRestore app provided by Samsun...
