Other providers would do this all the time, so it is entirely possible that U-Verse would too. The retention department might have let you keep your free DVR with U100 as a concession for you staying with U-Verse, even though it violates the listed price-list. Before you go back to U200, you should check your bill to see if you are actually paying for the DVR service.

It is a 28" I-Inc. Some no-name brand from asia (aren't they all?). It is designed as a computer monitor where 16:10 is quite normal, but it does have built in speakers. Either way, welcome to the future, where TVs and computer monitors are now interchangeable since they now use the exact same inputs (HDMI). As such, the effect is kind-of in the middle. Old square TVs wer...

My TV is a 16:10 connected via HDMI, but the picture is zoomed in. The U-Verse aspect ratio is 16:9, so I should have black bars on the top and bottom...but I don't. It seems the two devices have negotiated to auto-zoom the picture, filling the screen and cutting off content on the left and right.

Well, if the stb you want to use is connected to the gateway through coax, then you might be able to plug the slingbox into the ethernet jack on the back of the stb and get on the internet.

I know that. Now, what can I do to fix it? It just needs to default back to 1080i.

I am confounded by this same problem. My U-Verse box is connected to my computer monitor via HDMI and to my bedroom TV via component, both need 1080i. The computer monitor does not accept component, and the bedroom TV does not accept HDMI. Well, whenever the computer monitor is turned off, goes to sleep, or changes input, the U-Verse box reverts to 480i. It is deeply anno...

I too have 3HD live steams at once. Now, how about upping the DVR limit to record 3HD steams at once? Certainly that poor hard drive can keep up! We ran ethernet to the DVR just for such an eventuality.

Speaking of new firmware... I can now watch 3HD/1SD live steams at once. As such, the peaks are thus: watching 5HD steams at once (3 live, 2 recorded) or watching 7SD steams at once (4 live, 3 recorded). I don't know where people got 8SD steams from, as my DVR has an egress limited to 2HD/1SD, which implies 3 streams max. My complaint is that in my household no one watche...

I called U-Verse to confirm, was sorry to waste their time. I have the 3HD/1SD WAN profile and the second tier support said it was impossible to upgrade the DVR Ingress profile from 2HD/2SD to match. As such, we can get 3HD streams into the house, but the DVR cannot record all three of them.
