sending an email is great...but if you need to upgrade your programming package its a waste of time....the new Whole Home DVR will only work with the new programming packages...Chocie Xtra or Choice Ulitmate....if you dont see those names on your bill you will need to CALL not send an email to get it done...I tried the stupid email twice but they wouldnt upgrade the packa...

In my mind I still cannot fathom why there is so many problems getting this done...I opted in for the MRV but never used it...i fact i never networked my recievers until just yesterday...I did make 2 unsuccesful attempts..but 1 week later i called ...i was vague to the dtv csr and said please active whole house dvr ill pay the 3 a month and no deca...it was done right aft...

i called got the rep to add the whole house dvr for $3 a month no deca...purchased a 100 ft long ethernet cable connected hd dvr to hd reciever and it works great !!!! i love it

NO HR24 has deca built into the stb...nobody "needs" Deca....its only another vehicle to network your receivers for the whole house dvr...as long as you have an HD DVR and other HD recievers you will be ok...

I think the trick to calling in to directv ...firstly you need to ask for the networking department...then just state "calmly" you were a beta tester and want to opt out of deca and just pay the $3 for the whole home dvr...your package may need to be updated into the newer choice xtra or choice ultimate packages... If they still give you trouble...ask them to open DORIS.....

Hello again!! I work for ATT/DIRECTV ....direct seems to change the package and what they are called about once a year...I had the PLUS HD+DVR pkg..that package was available for about 2 years I think..Directv Grandfathered it this year in Feb or March...and started something called The Choice Xtra and The Choice Ultimate....so im sure with the new WH-DVR they want people...
