I had another thread on this forum going where I couldn't get an Insignia TV to adjust its volume correctly. The Insignia folks gave me a number of codes to try which eventually corrected the problem. A number of the codes would work for cutting the TV on or off, but wouldn't adjust the volume correctly. I figured if this method worked for the Insignia, I should try it on...

I heard back from the Insignia Forum today. They offered a number of possible codes to try. The fifth code worked! I had used the automatic code setup on the remote and had stopped trying different codes after I reached the first code which made the TV turn on and off. I found that five of the codes made the TV turn on and off, but only one made the volume adjust work cor...

I must have read your mind. I just got off of the Insignia forum you mentioned and pointed out that none of my other brands of TV (Sony, Philips and JVC) have this problem. We'll see what they have to say.

I got out my digital still camera and aimed the remotes toward it and depressed the volume up and down buttoms. The Insignia remote pulsed the LED with about a 1 second period. The U-verse remote's LED stayed on as long as the buttom was depressed. I realize that I can't ascertain if there is a very fast pulsing of the signal with this simplististic method, but it does sh...

I have an Insignia (BestBuy house brand) TV. When I use the U-verse remote to adjust the volume, it does so VERY SLOWLY. If I use the TV's remote, the volume changes much more rapidly. My son has two Insignia TVs and has Time-Warner cable. He sees the same problem of slow volume adjustment with the Times-Warner remote. Is this just a quirk of the Insignia TVs or is there ...

I found a solution, but it was not what I expected. I have a mixture of remotes, some of them the older silver model and some the later black model. I was trying to program a black remote to operate this TV when I discovered the problem. Before I tried the above suggested fixes, I tried programming a silver remote (which I noticed uses different four digit codes). The sil...

I was recently given an old JVC flatscreen TV made in 2004. I mounted it on the wall and fired it up. Looked great on HD. I go to program the remote and the first code I entered worked. I tried turning the TV on and off several times. I tried the volume adjust and it worked as well. Here's the kicker. When I hit the AT&T button to resume normal operation of the remote, th...

I went around last night and checked all of the connectors, found a couple of less-than-tight ones. I do have the blue label splitters. I have a one piece (no splice) homerun cable that is 100' long. All of the connectors were installed by U-verse, so no crimp-ons. What do you think about my idea of re-locating the RG to a more central location - about 30 feet from the NI...

ScottMac - Thanks for all your helpful recommendations. I have 7 TVs in my house, 6 of which are connected via coax and 1 via CAT5. You can just imagine the number of splitters I have. The set connected with CAT5 performs much better than any of the coax sets. I am planning to convert everything to CAT5 shortly with the RG moving much closed to the NID. I found on one of ...

I've had U-verse almost two years and love it. My family averages about 160-180 recorded shows at any one time on the DVR. The DVR has started acting a little flakey lately, such as stopping recording in the middle of a show and then starting right back up. During the time it is not working properly, the other set top boxes will not acknowledge the DVR's presence. I de-fr...

I need to replace the homerun cable because it now runs around the outside of my house and I need to replace the cedar siding. I figure this will be a good time to run the cable inside the house. I bought a 100' roll of RG-6/U Quadshield cable with two "weatherproof" type F connectors. Should this cable work OK for the homerun cable?

I've tried both WPA and WEP. No luck with either. What puzzles me is that this computer worked for about a month with no problems.
