Another option is to connect the analog audio outputs from the STB to analog audio inputs. I doubt this would hurt audio quality given the use of TV speakers, but it might help your volume issue if you already verified that your digital output setting is stereo on the UVerse STB/DVR.

If you are using the audio from your TVs, but only connecting the UVerse STB via HDMI then check your digital audio setting. It shoulid be set for stereo output, not surround sound. My guess is that this could be the problem.

I got closer to $30 off per month for 6 months by talking to retentions. The fact that your existing wiring seems to work with TWC and Dish is mostly meaningless when used for a UVerse install. If you are in fact dealing with a localized issue shared amongst 20+ people, then there must be some external issue unrelated to your internal wiring.

Call support and ask to be transferred to retentions. Explain your situation and ask for a credit based on the fact that you still do not have stable services. Many customers dealing with ongoing issues get credits which could include a one-time credit as well as an monthly credit for up to 6 months. Also, you should try to get escalated to 2nd tier support and explain yo...

My only complaint with the Logitech remote (Harmony One in my case) is that it is slower than the original remotes that it has replaced. For some functions/devices this might not matter. But scrolling through the guide a channel at a time or similar functions on other devices I have is slower than the original remote. Even after reading about this issue on the Logitech fo...

Folks would probably want to know how your gateway is connected, see some stats for your gateway's broadband connection, etc before they would be able to provide any suggestions. Also, I know folks use Gig switches, but was not sure about the use of a 10/100 switch. Although you won't be pushing gig speeds, the switch needs to be able to support multiple streams. I know t...

My install is all cat5e (self installed internal runs prior to the actual install). It was pretty much plug and play for the installer who indicated it was his first 100% cat5e install and one of the easiest. I've been problem free aside from one outside wiring issue that was independent of my inside wiring. You might not need to go with cat5e, but it has the potential fo...

I recently got a Harmony One. Initially I was disappointed with how things worked. It was supposed to replace remotes for Uverse, TV, and AV receiver. It did the basic job, but I guess I expected more. Well, since the initial setup I began tweaking the remote setup and am much happier with the results. The One has room for 6 touchscreen buttons (displayed at once). I was ...

I've noticed this specifically with 5.1. Stereo on HD channels is fine, just the 5.1 content seems significantly quieter than anything in stereo. Since my receiver shows volume level settings numerically, I can see that it takes a notably higher volume level on the receiver than it did before. Average listening level in stereo might be -27 to -25db while 5.1 content might...

Recently both my wife and I have noticed that 5.1 audio seems quieter than after the somewhat recent 5.1 distortion/volume issues were resolved. We are having to run the AV receiver volume much higher when watching a channel with 5.1 audio. It seems like the stereo channels are more or less normal while the 5.1 content is significantly quieter. Is anyone else noticing thi...

I noticed intermittent responsiveness on the STB running my LCD set and also issues with the remote for my AVR. I had never considered this odd side effect until reading this thread. All along I thought the remote for the AVR was beginning to fail and now it appears as though the same issue is impacting both. The problem is intermittent and is a bit more difficult to pin ...

I'm curious to know how display settings on the LCD would impact the DVR's or STB's responsiveness to the UVerse remote. Does the physical placement of the STB/DVR matter? I do notice the occasional poor response on my STB which is driving a Samsung LCD. They are in close proximity, with the STB sitting just a little below the screen. But the face of the STB is ahead of t...
