You don't specify which gateway you have, but I have the NVG589. I am assuming the message you are seeing is on the webpage that summarizes your gateway's information and statistics. If so, this likely means that you do not have an internal battery in place. I don't know about yours, but the NVG589 comes without an internal battery. but you can obtain one at your own cost...

If you haven't done so already, you might try rebooting your DVR. I have had one or two occasisons where my recordings "disappeared" after a power blink, only to reappear after a reboot. Good luck.

Hi, Chris--The aspect ratio adjustment in the menu worked fine when on component, but the TV itself still indicated a 4:3 ratio when the input button on the remote was pushed. The tech said that could be a problem, so we went with HDMI. But he left the component cables in place so I could easily switch if I wanted. I've never had the "black crush" with HDMI (or I'm not su...

Just to follow up, I had a great tech visit this morning. He thought the problem was the HDMI cable was the problem, and at first tried component cables. Sure enough, the aspect ratio (as indicated by my TV) changed to 4:3. But he then switched the HDMI input, the aspect ratio went back to 16:9, and I haven't seen the problem since. Of course, the HDMI errors were sometim...

I just got off the phone with tech support, and they scheduled a tech visit for tomorrow morning. My HDMI cable has been in place for several years without a problem, but I guess corrosion is a possibility since the length of the cable has not changed. I was initially connected via component cables, but my recollection is that there was some issue with aspect ratio after ...

Within the last two weeks, I have noticed an irregular occurrence of the above error while I am watching the TV connected to my VIP2250 DVR. It does not occur when watching the TVs on STBs. The error happens when watching live TV or recordings. I know that the errors are occurring live rather than having been recorded, because the same recordings can be viewed without err...

Try Nomorobo --you'll have to check and make sure it's compatible with your phone provider, but it's free and it works great. docbombay

Thank you. I do have Uverse VoIP, and the battery light on the NVG589 is not on, so no battery installed. I do have a wired phone, a cell phone and an iPad, which give me phone and internet options in the event of a power outage. I realize I would get 4 hours at best from a replacement backup battery, but am looking to have that "insurance" (in addition to my other device...

I am recarpeting my home, which means moving furniture. And that means a good view of the intestine-like tangle of cables behind the desk. So I am trying to organize the mess, and thought of a question. I got a new NVG589 not long ago, and I believe that it has its own internal battery. If that is the case, can I just eliminate the old battery backup unit that remains fro...

Well, I unplugged it last night and tried it one more time after work today--not only didn't it work, but now all the lights are dim and flickering, like cheap Christmas lights. So I will give it appropriate last rites, and look into a new box.

Tried it three times with no success--no visible changes, same status. Thanks anyway.

I imagine it's dead. When I turned on my kitchen TV (NOT connected to the DVR), the box began a reboot but then the signal went out altogether. The power light blinked off and on for a few seconds, and then all the lights (power, green, blue, red) all came on and stayed on steadily. First I checked all my connections, then tried disconnecting the power cord for 15-30 seco...

Well, the tech has been here and he found a very simple solution. He changed the TV-DVR connection to HDMI instead of component and the 16:9 ratio was restored. So the new 2250 is not defective, but apparently the TV "sees" it differently than the old 1225 (which was connected by component). So all is well in docbombayland once again! docbombay

RC was correct in that what was shown was called Local on the 8s. But like dwinth says, it was not really local, but a summary of forecasts from multiple major cities. It used to be that you would see a LOT8 for your local area, and I thought I would miss that when I switched to U-verse. But I find that the local TV or radio is more specific and accurate, not to mention t...

For those (like myself) who decided to wait for the app to be repaired, it is now available at the App Store and seems to work just fine so far. docbombay

If you have U-voice, you should have the call history feature available. I seem to recall reading that some features may take a few days to show up after an install or being newly added, so another day or two may make a difference. You might try rebooting, which has worked in other cases for me (e.g.upgraded WAN profile). Otherwise, you will probably need to call TS. Good...

Hi, Jessica--welcome to U-verse! I'm not very knowledgeable either, but I can help you with your first question. Press the Enter (Zoom) button and a menu will come up on the right side of your screen. Then use the right or left arrows (on either side of the OK button) to find the Zoom menu and select the desired size. I'm sure one of the forum experts will help soon with ...
