The Uverse modem\Residential Gateway that comes with the service is one of the best 802.11G wireless routers I have ever used. For years, I used to replace my wireless router every 3-4 months with the latest and greatest. Since I switched to Uverse my wireless router upgrading days are over. If you need more wired bandwidth just purchase a few gigabit switches and attach ...

Hauppauge HD PVR is the best way to transfer from the U-verse DVR to a computer. It records in both HD and standard defintion and it ignores all copy protection. http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html The only downside is that it only records in real time via analogue component cables but the quality is outstanding.

CAPS are absolutely the wrong direction to be going. This is pure greed and it will come back to bite them. I'm definately going to vote with my wallet as soon as these CAPS hit U-Verse here in Austin, TX. I wonder which is the least profitable U-verse TV, Internet and phone plan?? hmmmm. I guess I had better cancel my U-400, 18 Max and all the other extras NOW in order to...

The technology is based on MediaRoom not MediaCenter. The software technology is different. In my opinion, the User Interface for MediaRoom\U-verse is much less robust compared to the latest version of Vista Media Center. While there may be some similarities between the two products I'm under the impression that they are two separate products running on different operating...

It's not windows media center software. I've read posts on TheGreenButton from the Microsoft folks and they say MediaRoom is not Media Center. The two groups are different. Media Center is located in Redmond and MediaRoom is located in California. Microsoft acquired the MediaRoom software company and Microsoftized them in order to get into the IPTV business. MediaRoom run...

Good question. Using up my cell phone minutes is much harder than hitting the cap on my internet connection. First of all, my internet connection is easily shared and I can sustaining 2-way communication with multiple locations. It's not hard for me to automate the downloading of gigabytes of data both day and night at a reduced speed while simultaneously providing reliab...

" There is another down side to caps and that is people will look at there usage at the end of the month and then download up to that cap. I think that will be me. Right now I pay for service by the month and I pay extra for faster speed. If they make it so a pay for service by the month up to a limit I will make sure and hit that limit." Good idea, I think that one of th...

Speed increases\decreases take effect without having to reboot the remote gateway (RG). The rep you spoke with was mistaken.

I also think the other two phases of THDVR will rollout pretty quickly. I'm guessing within the next 30 days or so we should see the next phase.
