I guess he isnt calling back. I called though, got another person who I couldnt seem to get to understand the issue for 20 minutes. Once she did, she had to talk to her supervisor who said we needed a tech. No crap? Thats what i wanted. Anyway, then she couldnt get one to get a tech scheduled to come out, because a system was down again somewhere. Said she would call back...

Well, I suppose it had to happen eventually. Our DVR seems to have quit on us. Worked this morning, but after coming home from a day long trip, we couldnt access it from one of our other TVs. Or you could just look at it to see if its even spinning...mine wasnt and the DVR was still making noise.\ Then of course if it is, you can try that trick.

Seriously. I wish people would stop saying it is the fan so positive that its the ONLY possible cause. Maybe it was your fan...but its not mine, nor is it ERI3Ks either. Reminds me of a show my daughter watches, Dora, where the map sings "Im the map, Im the map" over and over... Some of you sound the same, but say "Its the fan, its the fan, its the fan" etc...to music and...

Well, if I want HD, Im stuck. Either I hope AT&T can get this resolved, and deal with it in the mean time, or I switch to DirecTV or someone else and pay extra to get HD ready recievers...the standard ones dont have anything better than S-video out... Guess I need to call them again...and ask about the Cisco stuff again. Maybe that will help with getting them up here, may...

Where did you put the foam? Under, inside? Mine is in an open cabinet, but it was making the noise sitting on the floor, and even while holding it at different angles outside the cabinet...

Yes, there are some others. Every tech except one has replaced multiple other recievers for the same noise. The other thing is that its very high pitch. The older you get you loose your higher frequency hearing...I believe this has been posted here before about this same noise...but my only guess is that more do it, but the owners are older (mid 40s and up) and cant hear ...

Well, it is. Im not about to go into everything I and techs have tried...Ive done so on here already while they and I were trying those things. Different rooms, different locations... Regardless...I dont want to switch...if I was Id have done it after the gateway failed. No internet for 2 days, and half the third day (Sunday) waiting on a tech and another 4 hours for him ...

Well, I had it for 3 years prior to this mess, and never had trouble. But I do have problems with U-Verse. Lots of them. 5 DVRs and they cant get it right? Give me a break. I cancelled a service I was ok with to give this a try, and its been nothing but trouble. So why shouldnt I go back? Someone have a better idea? Oh, I know, maybe I should go for DVR #6...and pay more ...
