Okay, I reprogrammed the TV part of the remote and all is well. Thanks, community!

Thanks, aviewer and kong57. I'll clarify further. 1. It's the right remote. Same one I've had. Never out of my possession. 2. The Uverse remote is properly programmed for the DVD player. The challenge is getting the DVD player to show up on the TV. It's wired properly to the back of the TV, into the VIDEO 2 inputs, as it always has been. On my TV remote (an old SONY), pre...

Moved from one house to another. TRANSFERRED my service which meant keeping my box and (silver) remote which was programmed to control my other devices. Finally set up my DVD player, and discovered that when pressing the usual button on my remote to control my DVD player, nothing happened. Anyone know how or why that would happen and what I can do to get the way it was se...

Wow, appreciate the detail on that, My Thoughts! I better clarify the end goal a bit better... At different times, without changing cabling each time, I would like to be able to: 1. Watch TV normally, through the TV audio, without having to turn on the stereo; 2. Watch TV but with audio through the stereo (through speakers or headphones; Is there a way to do this with pro...

With a standard Motorola DVR box setup (no HD), there's a set of audio outs going from the DVR box to my TV. But I also want the option of being able to listen to TV audio through headphones instead. I can turn the TV audio off, but my TV doesn't have a headphone out. I do have a stereo amp I can connect headphones to if I can find the best way to set this up. 1. Should I...

I see that one requires a TV tuner card in a PC, and a STB. Is the TV tuner card different than one's sound card or does the tv card double? Also, does Uverse charge extra for a 2nd STB? Thanks!

Thanks to all for the input. Just upped from 3 to 6. Do a fair amount of dl, especially music files I've been writing/recording for sharing with other musicians and this seems like it could smooth the way. 12 was too big a $$$ jump though. Peace, chamlin

It's been so long since I signed up I'm wondering how I can tell what speed package I have so I can then ask you guys/gals whether you notice a big difference in the next level up. Where do I look?

Kssanjose, I'm confused. You wrote: 8 bits in a byte, which means your max download for 3 Mb/sec service would be around 350 KB/sec. Realistically, you should be getting around 300 KB/sec. Isn't 3MB/sec = to 3,000KB/sec? Why should we be getting 300? Obviously, not technically savvy in this area, Chamlin

Eri3k, thanks for doing that. Very helpful, even if my problem is resolved.

1. (Gently said) I don't buy the "older folks won't hear it" idea. I'm in my 50's, lifelong musician (hearing loss on the high end). I'd have to be dead, not deaf, to have not heard that **bleep** high pitch noise coming from my box. 2. Fortunately, mine stopped once I changed boxes, added 1" risers to ensure air flow (even though I don't know if that was the cause), and ...
