"To be determined: Is the issue the proximity to the DVD player due to "heat"? Is the issue some weird electronic disharmony? Both?" Since the noise has been pretty much pinpointed to the cooling fan in the STB (per other posts) and you added heat by turning on the dvd and the high pitch noise then ensued you have quite conclusivly determined that the cooling fan is the s...

Is there anyone else besides Zerp that likes the YaHoo freebie Norton pkg. That's the first positive that I've seen.

No problem with the corrected ones as long as they arrive on time, PIP. They would cost the same as those pristine bits that passed all the tests. Message Edited by noeck1c on 06-20-2008 05:10 PM

Everything that comes into the RG is nothing more or less than various arrangements of 1s and 0s. Regardless of whether it's TV, email, or urge (or is that UGH). Simplify the whole deal give us price by the bit (our bill can be displayed as it accrues). Those who leave the TV on all day or try to screw the transporter by Web Hosting from the Home will quickly decide a bet...

This topic has been sort of taken up on a previous thread. My suggestion was and is: pricing of digital information (this includes all information; audio, video, fax, email, TV (hi def or standard) etc. etc.)) should be priced by the bit or byte as defined by standards committee. The market place will determine the value of overall revenue accrued by the content: author a...

Ditto the shrinkage of bulk mail folder. Down from 20 or 30 per day to next to nothing. I can no longer send copies of emails to my own address for testing and emails from family members not getting through (they get no error msgs, nor do I).

Your set-up sounds exactly what I have. Just connect one of you router ports to the RG keep the other three connected as they are. The RG will ideally use it's three remaining ports for Cat5 connection to the Set Top Boxes providing IPTV to you TVs. You should get a message on your computer that the RG detects the router and ask to configure it. Click OK and you are in bu...

Yours is the kind of post we need more of. The wireless port on the gateway must have been introducing some overhead that was using up a lot or most of the gateway's resources. It would be neat if you could post a simple diagram of your layout.

You may not be a geek but probably have a little bit of geek in you. For one thing if you are sitting at the kitchen table with the laptop and getting email wirelessly it means you have Internet Connection Sharing going on in the desktop or a wireless router. This will all change with the install of the Residential Gateway. While your desktop and laptop can talk to the RG...

Something to consider about this forum: There are now over 100,000 uverse customers and some percentage of them take the time to comment on this forum about their experience with the service. Guess what, those who are having a good experience are watching TV or surfing the net. Those with problems are on here looking for solutions. It's the nature of the beast that what y...
