Yes I remebered to change the Outlook password too (hence it now works)... there's just a concern in the back of my mind that my AT&T password may have been changed / tampered with without my knowledge.

OK, seems to be working again, but... Either there was a glitch/outage with the SMTP servers, or more worryingly... had my AT&T password been messed with (and if so by whom)? The reason I'm suspicious about that is that I tried going into to AT&T's webmail, could login, had to "reset" my password (back to what I had always been using), and now with that done the login to t...

As of this morning I'm unable to send any email from Outlook. Receiving email is OK. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Are AT&T/Yahoo having problems with their SMTP servers, or have they messed around with their SMTP settings yet again (without telling us!)? - Colin

Til... many thanks for the SSL tip - it worked! If only AT&T support had communicated that change to their then customers we wouldn't have wasted the best part of a month trying to guess/figure this out. Cheers, Colin.

I got a phone call from AT&T last night... from their customer service team I guess... asking the usual "You're a new AT&T Internet customer, we'd like to ask you a few customer satisfaction questions". I had difficulty stopping myself from rolling around the floor laughing!

I've not deleted/recreated my Windows Mail ('cos I don't want to risk deleting/messing my store of emails which aren't yet fully backed up), however I have tried creating new email accounts (new names within my domain) and they have exactly the same problem. Remember this is happening on all 3 of my PCs/laptops so it's not an isolated case of a "bad" email client. Like oth...

Well I powered my 2wire DSL router off for 10 mins (and verified it picked up a new IP Address), rebooted my laptop, powered the router back on, fired up Windows Mail... and still can't send email from it. ... think I'll be switching over to another ISP soon.

Larry, I did power off/on my dsl router, but probably left it off for only 30secs. I'll try a full 2+ mins this evening (plus reboot the PC, cross fingers, etc) and see if that helps. Thanks, Colin.

What a farce.... I called that "Support Plus" number only to find out it's a charge-for support center (i.e. they want me to dig out my credit card and charge me a small fortune for the previlege of telling them there is a problem with THEIR netrwork/servers). Hmmm. Think I'll head to my local AT&T shop ask them who I really need to speak to, and if they can't help then mo...

Well I just spent 45 patient mins on the phone to AT&T support and got nowhere. No matter how often I told them it looks like a problem with their outgoing smtp server (or IP address blocking) they insisted on repeatedly walking me through setup/settings of my email client (Vista Windows Mail). Aaaaaargh! They eventually gave up and gave me a number for "AT&T Support Plus"...

Akee, Thanks for the pointer to that link... but that was my original post a few weeks ago you helped me with - i.e. I verified those accounts as you suggested and all worked well until a few days ago. Do I need to re-verify the accounts? I think the only way that may be possible would be to delete the accounts then recreate them. Hmmm. Any other tips (or reasons why the a...

I have the same problem. I can receive email, but as of yesterday I'm unable to send any using a client such as Windows Mail. Surely this must be a common problem for all us folks who use an email client rather than AT&T's clunky webmail? A solution (or reason) to ths problem would be much appreciated Cheers, Colin. (xxxx@theurquharts.net) FYI... I have my own domain/emai...
