Here is another graph from today. I was on the IP phone for much of the 10 minutes. The graph shows way to the left a drop out while on the phone. There was another drop out right before that call ended. I started another call and there was one more drop out of bandwidth during that call. Each drop off was due to some web page trying to load more content. It's got to be s...

Well, the ATT tech support last night, trying to be helpful, said I'd better make sure my SpeedStream 4100 I just borrowed (to replace my 5260) was setup properly in Bridge mode. Oh, no, you can't use DHCP, you must properly put it in bridge mode. I'm told. I don't have a manual, I took her word for it. So I dutifully did so, only to later read up and see that this is the...

No, but I did see something odd today - I tried getting the router out of the picture and plugged my windows 7 machine directly into the modem. ATT speed test showed up to 5Mbs! But my own network monitor in the task manager showed only about 1.4Mbs. I can't complain about my speeds, I just don't understand the hiccups. I don't think I was able to recreate the hiccups dur...

Here is a graph of the problem occurring. Notice twice the problem did not occur, the third test it did occur. One would expect a DSL Speed test to show poor numbers perhaps if another computer on the network is using up all the bandwidth already. But in this case, the WAN port receives zero bytes for a second or two, then starts up again. This is NOT an isolated case - t...

Hi, I've been having this issue for several months now, but just recently got the diagnostic tool to actually see what happens... I have a new Asus RT-N12 running TomatoUSB, which has a great real-time graph capability. here is what I see happening (BTW, the symptoms occurred with another router as well). Steady connection will be downloading happily, when another browser...

I've posted in several forums about this, and I just discovered there is probably an even better way if you have the latest/greatest firmware in the NVG510 router. See this post for more details and a picture of the configuration screen with instructions. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r26895551-Cisco-877-NVG510-IP-Passthrough-block-of-public-addresses Basically there is...

There is also a "Cascaded Router" option that may work for you as well, I have firmware 9.0.6h0d48, and the Home Network Subnets and DHCP page looks like this: And instructions look like this: That sounds exactly what a lot of users could use! I didn't try it, but it may be easier to configure for some people than the way I explained in my previous post. Hope you find thi...

If you still need a solution, I've got one. Just did this myself. Took all bleepin' week before I got it worked out. If you have a block of public static addresses DO NOT bother trying to get "passthrough" mode to work, it is not necessary. Simply do the following: On the NVG510, go to Home Network tab, then Subnets and DHCP under that. Go to Public Subnet Enable, and tur...
