If you plan to continue using iTunes to manage your music on your computer, you might also check out iTunes Agent ( link ). It's a little application you install on your computer that automatically copies music from iTunes to your phone when plugged in. There are other similar apps out there as well.

Ann154 wrote: Some itunes music might have to be converted to mp3 format before the Captivate will play the music. Conversion isn't necessary per se. The Captivate can play Apple's format just fine. The music you won't be able to play is anything that is not DRM free. All music in iTunes since sometime last year has been DRM free. Music purchased through iTunes before 200...

Nope. No real special considerations as regards the phone. It will be able to connect to any off-the-shelf wireless router that's out there now.

The Notification Ringtone is the default tone for notifications (voicemail, email, sms, etc). In Accounts settings, you can set a specific tone for each email account which will override the default. Other apps that cause notifications will have settings to set a tone. As for changing volume, if you use the Silent or Vibration buttons in the notification bar - those contr...

There's not a setting, but there's almost certainly an app. What kind of message are you talking about? Voicemail, email, sms? Assuming you mean voicemail message, there's an app called Voicemail Notifier. See this thread for link and info. If you mean email, sms, or otherwise, a quick search in the Market should get you something. Good luck.

First thing I'd do is change some of your display options in the contacts to make things a little more sane until you settle on how you want to manage contacts going forward. Go to Contacts, then hit the menu key, the tap Display Options. The top option will be the most useful right away: "Only contacts with phones". That will hide all those gmail contacts that are email ...

Wingrider, I'm not sure why you've taken exception to what I said, but please allow me to clarify. Wingrider01's comments prefixed by ">" below. > few hundred? that is the the subsidized cost, given the technology full retail for the phone should be around 600 or so. A few hundred more than the subsidized cost. E.g. $200 (subsidized) + $400 (few hundred more) = $600 (full...

I think I know what's happening here. Next time it does it, see if there's a padlock icon on the screen. What I'm guessing is happening is you're hitting the lock/power button. When you "lock" the phone while the camera is on, instead of just going to standby lock usual, it just locks out all the controls. I think the idea is that if you're video recording, you can lock t...

Short answer: It depends. Depends on lots of things like geographic area, length of trip, etc, etc. Best way to figure out for yourself is to use something like 3G Watchdog ( AppBrain link ) and take it for a drive to measure how much data it's using.

Just make sure you have absolutely no data plan or feature. You probably have a pay per use feature enabled for data. As long as you have zero data plans or features, you shouldn't be able to connect to the web even if you do accidentally open the browser. You can check your service features online or call Customer Service to make sure they remove anything that would char...
