you need to unlock the phone to use a german sim. Or just buy a cheap unlocked gsm phone. You can find them as low as 29.00 online at amazon.

piccell rates are way too high. {Please keep it courteous} To the OP google international sim cards. There are a number of good rates out there. The best cheapest way is to buy a prepaid sim when you arrive in Germany. Rates are several cents a minute . I do this every year. Stay away from piccell.

If you want to unconditionally call forward to avoid roaming charges while abroad and you have a Google # do the following prior to leaving: Go to advanced settings in the Google phone section of your google acct. Set your google# to never ring any of your phones then set google# to go directly to voicemail. On your cell phone dial *21* enter your google number then press...

I now know my VM sever # I know that I can use *21* to forward unconditionally to that #. But could I simply go to settings in the Iphone and use that call forward method to the VM server rather than use *21* ? Would that also be unconditional call forward eg. not ring my phone while in Europe?

You should be almost out of contract so it won't cost you much to cancel if ATT won't let you out. There are a # of services that will unlock your Iphone, google is your friend.

OK, I plan to do unconditional forwarding to voicemail while I am in Europe. I have a German cellphone and plan to call my US cell which will forward to VM and use my password to retrieve messages. Is it correct that this will not incur roaming charges from ATT? I can call the US for .39 per minute from my German cell so that is much cheaper.

when you dial *#67# and it gives you a number, where is that number from. Is it an ATT number that holds your voice mails until you return to the US? PS. oops, never mind, need to work on my comprehension skills :-)

NO. With unconditional call forward you forward your cell# to another US # so the call is never sent to your cell # 1. Dial *#67# to see the number you should use to call forward 2. Dial *21*number# to forward calls unconditionally to that number 3. Dial #002# when you return to restore the default settings.

When in Europe are you charged for an incoming call if you don't answer it? I want to be able to see caller ID without answering the call so that I can return the call from my European cell phone.

I will be in Germany in august with my Iphone4. If I don't answer calls would I be charged for them? Will the call show on caller ID? If the call goes to voice mail but I don't check voicemail will there be a charge? I have an unlocked phone with a German SIM with a cheap rate to call US. My plan is to check caller ID on incoming Iphone calls, not answer but call back fro...
