Yes, T-Mobile did it for me. They were generally more helpful than my local AT&T company store, but I can't really go with any of their plans due to their lack of coverage compared to AT&T.

My Samsung S2 Skyrocket is eligible for unlocking, although I actually haven't used it for a while. But I want it unlocked so I could use it, for example, while traveling to Europe where I can get a prepaid SIM card. I applied for and received my unlock code from AT&T, which requires me to insert a non-AT&T SIM card. Trouble is, I don't have such a card at this time! I ca...

I've switched to the SMTP server at my web hosting company that hosts my domains (1&1 Internet). It's a secure SMTP connection that uses port 587 -- not 25. Sending on port 25 is probably a classic way that spam gets sent, whereas my port 587 connection requires a username and password. This is working now, but introduces another potential problem. This particular web hos...

I figured out the problem and posted about it in another thread: AT&T SMTP now enforcing "From" email address .

I posted earlier about not being able to send email via SMTP and have now figured out the problem. Starting within the last day or so, they are now checking to see that the "From" address on outgoing email matches your AT&T email address and, if not, are rejecting it. This is probably an anti-spam measure, but can cause problems. This is a problem for me since I have my o...

Since last night I am unable to send email through the outbound.att.net SMTP server (port 465), getting back error messages from my client software. This is occurring both with Thunderbird on my Win7 PC as well as Aquamail on my Android devices, so it's apparently not a client problem. Anyone seeing this and have any ideas about a fix? For now I'm forced to send out throu...

I just live with it now. It's a secondary TV that is only turned on about once a day, and all I have to do when I see the message is to press a button on the TV remote that switches the input to the 2nd HDMI, then press it again to switch back.

I found out how to do it: Properties of the TCP/IP protocol stack. I'll do some more investigating and then maybe try this the next time I see it bog down. It still seems like it could be a general problem with the capacity of the pipe -- like too many of my neighbors streaming video at the same time. And if I called AT&T on it, I don't know how they would know what to fi...

The DNS server? Can you please explain how that would cause this type of problem? Also, although I have done IT work and a lot of networking before retirement, it has been a few years since I got into things at that level. Where would the DNS setting be found on a Windows 7 PC? Isn't this autoconfigured by the gateway using DHCP when I connect to it?

I am satisfied with my Uverse Internet service except for the periodic performance "outages" that I run into every couple of days. By this I mean that it suddenly slows down so much that either the browser times out going to a site or web pages just take forever to load. I am aware that there can be a number of reasons for things like this, such as congestion elsewhere in...

Neither sequence works for me. I think that the problem is that I have a cheap Insignia (Best Buy house brand) TV that is very slow to power on, so no matter which device gets powered on first, the TV is always late to the party.

Thanks. Already went to Microcenter this morning and exchanged the RE1000 for the NetGear WN3000RP.
