The fax just provides confirmation to allow a refund, like how a receipt of purchase allows return or exchange of goods, or serves as proof of purchase. It's not AT&T's policy to doubt these claims from the get-go, this is just standard procedure for verifying that you had been charged twice in error.

AT&T doesn't scam customers because 1: it's bad business practice, 2: it would swiftly ruin the company, and 3: nobody wants to field complaints that have no resolution. AT&T is not trying to rip anybody off, because AT&T does not want you to call in to complain. And as stated above, the iPhone is notorious for performing poorly in areas where more modest devices perform f...

Takes a subpoena to get that information, and that is requested by an officer, not a customer, and that goes to AT&T's legal department, not to customer care.

If you know the number, then you can use Smart Limits for Wireless to block it. The caller will receive a generic message stating that you are not receiving calls, the same people would hear if your line was suspended for any reason. But if you have a Samsung phone or at least the LG Vu, possibly some other devices as well, you can auto-reject calls from specific numbers r...

I do not advise visiting a store to receive technical support. It would be a waste of your gas money. It shouldn't take more than two days to fix an MMS issue. Why? Because after your SIM card has been tested in another phone, or replaced, the next step is a case, if the phone itself is not defective. And that's extremely rare.

The 8520 does WiFi, but it is an inferior device when compared with other available BlackBerry phones. The 8900 has higher screen resolution and a higher resolution camera, but some would see the trackball as a liability. Both of these devices are 2G, though. If you want the most for your money, the 9700 is the way to go. All of the best features of previous BlackBerry pho...

Well there you go. It looks like using prepaid service is the way to go for using a BlackBerry for a few months in the US. No having to worry about a credit check or canceling an account, either.

AT&T no longer allows data-only service, so the minimum cost for service with a BlackBerry (with BlackBerry Internet Service) is $69.99 per month, before taxes or any other fees. Irish Rose is the one to ask about using a BlackBerry Bold on prepaid service, but with that does not come the ability to use email with the phone.

You call 611 from another AT&T phone. Everything you need to install it is in this thread. I was exaggerating about OS 5 being tricky. There is NO danger in installing this OS. You need only delete the file named "vendor.xml", and you're set. That's it. If you mess up, just use the app loader to try again. Same as any other update. But people will keep posting in the threa...

You're not supposed to call AT&T from your cell phones. The recording tells you this. Read my post on the first page if having weird menus is so important to you.

You can add it. Removing might be hit or miss, but there is currently no system-mandated requirement for the Storm.

It may arrive randomly, during an unscheduled sweep. A mere SIM swap isn't enough to trigger the message in most cases. It requires activation. So... putting a NEW SIM into a smartphone will do it.

Settings, Options, Security Options, Firewall. Block SMS, scroll down, EXCEPT MESSAGES FROM: Contacts There, now you should not see SMS messages from anybody who isn't in your contact list. If you have a limited messaging feature, you will still be hit for the blocked messages, since they're being blocked at the phone, not in the network, so my advice is to just cut people...

Yes, it's fine to change equipment, and trade upgrades. Upgrades are performed on the lines that are eligible. Look at it this way. Mom's line is eligible. You process an upgrade on her line, get a new phone, she gets a new contract. You contact Customer Care to perform an equipment swap to keep everything nice and neat. Then your line becomes eligible, and she uses your u...
