I'm not one of the fortunate people to be in a LTE area. I guess AT&T prefers people in the SE part of the country and Puerto Rico over the rest of the country. What I have found out, however, in the last four days, is that my data speed under "4G HSPA+" is worse than 3G. Is anyone else seeing that? Or do I need to replace my iPad? I totally agree with your frustration. I was prepaid for 18 months and any kind of customer service, whether it be talking to an agent on the phone or getting information online was basically non existant. I wanted an iPhone, so I went contract and the customer service was a thousand times better. That's really not right. Prepaid customers are still customers.

AT&T definitely needs to do a LOT of work on 3G before thought of 4G starts. I live in a pretty large city and my download speeds stink. I am totally fed up with how horrible my service is. Something like this needs to be fixed before any thought of LTE or whatever goes even one step further.

I don't see why it would be a problem. My situation is a bit different than yours as I was a prepaid customer with AT&T when I decided to go post paid. I was told I could bring the phone I was using at the time (a Tilt) into the contract and upgrade to another phone at any time.

I had major problems for over a month after I upgraded from a 3G to an i4. I talked with MANY people with AT&T to solve the problems and none of the "solutions" worked. What eventually worked is when I spoke with a tech manager and had him remove and then immediately re-add my data service. It had to be a manager because I have unlimited data service.

I have no idea why they would say that. When I went from prepaid to contract back in March (and had to pay a deposit), I bought the 3G and paid for everything with my debit card. Have policies changed with them?

It's happening to me, too. I have had about 5 dropped calls today, two of which were while I was on hold with Apple. That is more than I have had in several months. Allegedly, having the bumper case is a temporary fix for the problem. Too bad that after buying the phone today, I can't afford a bumper case for a few weeks.
