So you're saying you have no proof? So are you saying that $35K Subaru is overpriced because the dealer isn't paying more than $15-20K by buying it at "wholesale" prices? I think you vastly underestimate how much the carriers pay to the manufacturers even at wholesale prices. Tilt-A-Rama wrote: And where's your proof......everyone says this. Theres no proof. Whether or not it's possible or impossible doesn't make it allowable under AT&T's rules. If you don't have a tethering plan, you're not supposed to use your phone as a modem for a PC or laptop. That doesn't mean that people aren't doing it, but it still isn't allowed.

Have you asked about the possibility that the upgrade date on your account is wrong?

GPSPassion has pretty forums for discussing these kinds of questions. Not sure many people here know enough about Mobile XT to offer much (and I had Mobile XT on my Tilt). I can't answer the first question...I'm not sure how frequently it updates traffic. I don't believe it reroutes you based on traffic downloads, but then again I'm not entirely certain it doesn't.

Coverage in 20001 seems to be OK for me, although sometimes the 3G coverage is a bit weak. Where I really have problems is Conn Ave between Dupont Circle & Woodley Park, and up Columbia Avenue into Kalorama/Adams-Morgan.

I don't think AT&T sells any phone unlocked, whether you pay full retail price or not. Nimrod wrote: Oh, so they dont unlock them in house, you still have to call AT&T? The reason I ask is because my boss asked me if it was already unlocked since I paid full price for it. I told him that I never thought to ask the CR that helped me in the store but that it made perfect sin...

The data plans used to be sold without qualifying voice plans, but they cost $5 more per month in that scenario. I've not heard of any change. youngjm wrote: Maybe but you would have to speak with a rep. They may treat it like a PC data card?

That's a good question, one probably best posed to a moderator. One thing that is not permitted by the GoPhone T&C is to buy a new GoPhone and use it as a post-paid phone without activating it as a GoPhone and then migrating. hatoncat wrote: There is a bit of a loophole, in that AT&T customers can migrate to postpay, and keep their GoPhones. Just be advised that the GoPhone terms & conditions were rewritten to state that GoPhones must be used with a GoPhone plan. The moderators have taken to pointing this out when people suggest buying a GoPhone as a secondary option. A safer option is to buy a cheap AT&T-branded or unlocked GSM phone from eBay or Craigslist. hatoncat wrote: If you buy a GoPhone from a retail ...

I also found that I would have problems if I dropped out of coverage, like in a subway system, and then re-established connection. Cycling the radio off & on in Comm Manager seemed to take care of that. dayres wrote: I just loaded 6.1 on my Tilt and had to set up ActiveSync/Exchange from Scratch. You can use the original iPhone on prepaid, but you'll probably want to invest in a data plan if you do that. You cannot use the iPhone 3G with a prepaid acount. And it's unlikely you'll get your money back. Sorry. ptbach87 wrote: i intend to contact customer service to explain this issue. I will say i didnt know anything. Maybe they can give my money back. In terms of design, I'd say it's closer to the Sidekick than the G1. How do you define similar? The G1 is the only phone on a major carrier that uses the Google Android OS. Personally, I'd look at one of the solutions that comes installed on an SD card before I'd subscribe to AT&T Navigator. You can use one of the card-bases GPS programs, like Garmin Mobile XT or On Course Navigator, even when you don't have a data connection. I have Garmin Mobile XT installed on my Tilt, and it works great. With Navigator, you pay for it every month and you ...
