This CarrierIQ Spyware (Google this, if you want to find out more) deal is really starting to heat up. Yes, it is present on the Vivid, and probably other ATT HTC phones too. Not only is it starting to get some national media attention, but the U.S. Senate is now also taking an interest. Let's hope they can force a removal of this nasty bit of spyware!

I've been having ongoing problems with Location Service and Weather for my location on my Vivid. Today I also decided to test the Phone Finder Service that is a part of HTC Sense. It did not work. When I contacted HTC Customer Service, the following is their response: "Thank you for your reply regarding the Phone Finder application for your HTC Vivid device from AT&T on t...

Post a request for the bootloader unlonk at HTCDev.com. There is an easily overlooked link to do this at the bottom right of their website page. Not sure if they monitor the comments, if at all; but it can't hurt to try.

In all fairness to the previous poster, there are two kinds of unlocking on these phones. There's the...

I think I found the solution. I had to turn off the WiFi access to my home network in the Vivid. Then the Google Location Service appears to be working as it's supposed to work. Turn WiFi access back on, and it can't contact the Location Service again. I guess my home WiFi just overpowers everything.

Keep an eye on the xda-developers HTC Vivid Forum. It's being worked on.

There appears to be some issue with the Google Location Services. Everything worked fine for part of today, but now we're back into the "unable to contact the location services" error message when starting the Weather app; and Goggle maps shows my location just fine.

My new Vivid used to show the city where I am located in the home page, along with weather. As of today, the city is no longer named; and it just says "Current Location" with a current weather that does not seem to be relevant to where I am. I have both Use Wireless networks and Use GPS checked in the Settings>Location. Has the Google Location Services database gone upsid...

Wild Banchi wrote: Impressive. So overall, are you happy with the phone and what it's capable of doing? Pretty much. The touch screen is taking a bit to get used to. Also, there are some idiosyncrasies to the phone and the software that are still being learned. After a couple of years with Windows Mobile and another couple with BlackBerry, it's a whole new ball game.
