I hooked the phone up to iTunes, updated the relevant file, sync'd up. Then I disconnnected the iphone from the laptop and itunes, and powered the phone down. Then I powered it up. that url doesn't actually take you to the actual zoomed in view, darn it. Well, the map shows a solid darker blue for miles in any direction from here, indicating solid 3G service.

I am led to believe the target date for bringing online any such additional services is September 22, but be aware that this is idle speculation and that actual ATT employees can't say a thing. I have an iPhone 3GS and a MacBookPro,2 with a Globetrotter datacard (an Option GT Max 3.6 HSDPA Expresscard).
