You will be able to keep your unlimited plan. Anyone who already has a smartphone with an unlimited plan is allowed to switch between different smartphones and keep unlimited data. For anyone who upgrades to a smartphone for the first time, they will not allowed unlimited data.

Do what it says in the second posts. Call customer service before activating the phone so they can switch it over to your line. Otherwise, if you just activate the phone immediately, your husbands phone will stop working and the new 4s will be on his line. You shouldn't have to switch out any sim cards. They just need to switch the 4s to your line first. This way when you ...

How come every order status that other people have posted show "Various SIM"? Did they also buy an extra SIM card? I pre-ordered in the store and my order status doesn't have that...just curious...

I'm in the exact same position as you. I could be wrong, but I think att can just use the same sim card that comes with the phone. All that needs to be done is to switch the EMEI numbers to your phone line. Hopefully someone else with a little more knowledge can chime in...

Print the price protection flyer off the internet and bring it in with you. It is definitely real...my local store has confirmed that I am able to pre-order and exchange for the new iphone. If they don't know what is going on, have them call a corporate store or someplace else and figure it out...

I just called my local store that I bought the 3GS from on May 8th. They just told me that I would be able to pre-order on the 15th. I would then keep my 3GS and they would send me an email and call me on the 24th to come in for the exchange. I was told the same thing on several other occasions as well. If the people at your local store do not know what is going on, just ...

Agreed. Aren't there att moderators or something on this forum that can give us an actual answer as to how this is going to work?!

I'm in the same boat...I'm pretty sure all we have to do is pre-order the iphone 4 and then go back to the att store on the 24th and exchange the 3GS for the new one without having to pay anything else. I haven't heard any clarification on whether or not a restocking fee will be charged for the exchange, but it's only like $20.

MarcMaiden, Thanks for your response. Everyone else is saying that the iphone will only be available in the att stores on the 25th, not the 24th. Does this also apply to those doing the 3GS exchange, or do we get to exchange early on the 24th? Thanks for the help!

So for those of us who bought the 3GS at $199, do we get charged another $199 during the pre-order? Or do we simply exchange the 3GS for the iphone 4 without having to pay anything extra (other than a possible restocking fee)? Thanks.

Thanks for confirming. From what you said, it sounds like we have to wait until our local att store contacts us when the iphone 4 is ready to be exchanged. Does this mean we cannot pick it up on the 24th, but have to wait until they tell us to?
