You can be assured that even if AT&T offered the Z or ZL, it would be inferior to the unlocked version - Slower updates, broken carrier bloatware, and worst of all, locked bootloader to prevent you from escaping the bloat.

Might want to look at XDA at one of the porting tools, such as my H*llraiser package for GB and ICS. (I didn't bother with JB for a variety of reasons, but others have). I9100 firmwares don't have all of the problems I777 firmwares do despite the devices being 99% identical. You might want to try a ported I9100 ICS or JB package. For those sticking with Gingerbread - I910...

CM10 on Qualcomm-based devices is very well supported at this point. I was previously not a fan of Qualcomm-based units due to their lack of support in the past, but in 2012 Qualcomm has REALLY stepped up their game in terms of opensource community relations in terms of providing excellent reference source at CodeAurora. Thanks to CAF, Qualcomm-based Samsungs are currentl...

This is one of the numerous reasons I'm probably not going to be getting the Note 2. If it doesn't have a GW-compatible SE, I don't want it.

In the case of the Cappy - Samsung is responsible for that device not receiving ICS. No Galaxy S1-family device received it because Touchwizz is too bloated to fit. HOWEVER, AT&T is 100% responsible for the fact that the Captivate took on the order of 6-9 months to receive Gingerbread after the I9000 released it, AND AT&T is 100% responsible for any issues present in the ...

There is no indicator light. (The other poster is talking about on-screen notifications.) Relatively common Samsung quirk.

Logcat support is enabled in nearly any Android phone, even when stock. It's a critical debugging feature for app developers. HOWEVER: I have never, ever seen it use battery before. All logcat is, is a buffer in RAM into which debug resources are logged. For it to appear in battery stats, something must be actively running the "logcat" command in order to dump the buffers...

AT&T started rolling updates for some phones out that fixed this, and newer phones (like the Infuse) had it from the get-go. I'm not sure if there is an official Cappy update available, if not you're probably going to be waiting for the just-announced Gingerbread update. (Planned for "by the end of 2011"...) unless you take matters into your own hands. Gingerbread has bee...
