^ what Foxbat said - and might I add, it was shockingly easy. The entire process was done in less than 5 minutes & I'm not a tech geek by any stretch of the imagination. Sorry I can't post the links here, but a simple search will produce them for you.

UPDATE: After taking the phone to an AT&T store per CS' direction, the guy let me borrow a store SIM card, but wouldn't give up the phone number attached even after speaking with CS himself (total tool). I'm happy to report that I was able to find some good info on the web & I was able to unlock it myself, no thanks to anyone at AT&T.

AT&T gave me the unlock code for my device, but it doesn't work. I get an error message that says "network unlock request unsuccessful". I've spent quite a bit of time on the phone with customer service and we've tried several methods and none have worked. CS then directed me to take the phone to a store so they could unlock it there - that didn't work because nobody ther...

Turning off the GPS as stated above doesn't keep my Captivate from geotagging. It didn't give the exact address where I took the pic, but it was accurate within a city block. I was also told by a tech support rep that it wasn't possible to disable geotagging with the 2.2 update - not quite sure if I should believe that.

I have a samsung captivate & a rep at my local DSC told me that I needed a new 4G sim card - I thought it was strange, but I didn't refuse it.

Curious about that law firm...quite a few typos and some bad grammar in that document... apart from that, I've been having the same issue & I was told by tech support that it was a "known issue" & I was transferred to warranty exchange. I was told by the WE rep that my IMEI number was in the affected range and that I could go to the nearest device support center to receiv...

What I did was take the phone to a local AT&T service center and they were also unable to get it to do anything, so they replaced it on the spot. Now, unfortunately the replacement phone is having the same issues the original phone had - missing calls, emails & texts being sent/received hours or days after being initiated, extremely short battery life, etc...

I wish I could try the battery thing, but my phone is now essentially DEAD. After it went berserk and began downloading thousands of emails from 6 months ago, it now will not power up. The screen lights up as if it's going to boot up, but it never does. AT&T wants me to use my upgrade to get a totally new phone, but I don't think I should have to BUY a new phone to replace...

I'm having the same problem. I just got off the phone with ATT support and after 45 minutes, I still cannot access MediaNet. The last thing I was told was to switch SIM cards, and that doesn't work, I should just replace the phone. I did the "upgrade" to 6.5 on Thursday night - Friday morning, after a bit of finagling, everything was working just fine...Friday afternoon, I...
