I've been getting this message in Thunderbird, too (I use pop.att.yahoo.com for an sbcglobal.net address.) It doesn't happen every time, but maybe 5-10 times a day when checking the mail every 30 minutes.

It is $40 a month for 3mbps, but I was wondering what extra charges and fees are added on for internet only. They make a fair difference to the normal phone/internet package, about $12-14 on top of the quoted bundle charge. Billing dept. must be on vacation.

I'd love to cancel AT&T and get a different provider. Unfortunately, I only have a choice of moving to Comcast or nothing. As bad as AT&T are, Comcast are more expensive for 'net only and I have no use for their other services.Splitting AT&T into competitive units is probably th e only solution in the long term. Downgrading my DSL speed seems the best solution in the mean...

Try to live with more moderate quality video and downgrade your service. The fact is that if you pay AT&T for a better bandwidth speed you are much more likely to have to pay them overage charges as well.

No-one is suffering DSL congestion. The very fact that AT&T themselves say that this will only affect 2% of their user testifies to this. If only 2% use a lot of bandwidth, what's the problem? The fact is that AT&T want to cash in on the future success of companies like Netflix. Even though they already charge quite substantial fees for DSL (most of which is pure profit f...

If you're concerned about overage charges, you should downgrade your DSL service. Most legitimate streaming services like youtube and Netflix will reduce streaming quality and bandwidth if your connection cannot handle HD. It's reduced quality, but also much harder to go over this exploitative limit set by AT&T. It would be crazy for anyone to upgrade their service if the...

For those of us with no choice to move away from this greedy company, the best option is to downgrade your DSL to a slower speed. A 6mbps connection allows Netflix and youtube etc to serve an HD quality picture, which according to AT&T themselves will eat up 150Gb in just 20 movies (and that doesn't include everything else you might use the net for.) I checked my net use ...

I'm planning to remove my phone plan from AT&T due to ever-increasing charges (20% increase for a basic combined plan over the last 2 years!) What does a typical 3Mbps AT&T internet-only bill look like? Does it have all the usual surcharges, taxes and gratuitous extras that a regular phone bill has? Anyone had experience of removing their phone plan from a combined servic...
