Why won't they apply the $300.00 I put down on my new phone?

Down payment for $869.99 on 7P iPhone transaction in Winsted,Ct.
My husband surprised me for my birthday with a new phone. We both walked into AT&T at 200 New Hartford Road quite excited about our new purchase!
My husband wanted to buy the phone outright and was told by John, that wasn't allowed but we could put something down on it,which would bring down the payments each month. We put down $300.00,which John said to do the transaction as $150.00,then another $150.00,we didn't question that either. After buying a pretty iridescent pink case, plus a black ice gadget guard,we spent $434.99 total that day!Being a senior citizen I was shocked at the prices. We tend to still live in the sixties!
This all happened at the end of June.Sadly AT&T never received the money. With numerous phone calls, texts, dispute case numbers, credit card investigations, going back into the store, now with a pile of papers asking Yon to please clear this up and always told ,"AT&T take their sweet time "and he will call me.
Almost 4 mos later, had to pay the entire credit card bill and paying for the phone,yep,$869.99.My last conversation with a representative was today, after receiving our phone bill.Put on hold then hung up.I know I'm not the only one out there.I am not letting this go and hopefully you won't either.

This is not how you reach ATT.  (See blue letters).

Something is VERY wrong.   I hope you have the receipt or credit card charges for the $434 purchase.   Please CALL 611 and ask for a copy of the receipt and get the copy from your credit card company.

Im surprised you aren’t more angry.  The employee has obviously engaged in fraud.

Please click here @ATTCares. Then on message to send a message to advanced Support.  Through the private message you can send all your information, copies of your payments in June, proof you paid $434 and then the full payment you made to pay off the phone.

Advanced Support is a small group and is not in on weekends.  It may take a week to get to you..

Please post if you don’t get a response by next Friday.

Excellent that you have records.  Use the blue letters to message advanced support. @ATTCares

It takes a few days for a reply..

Please holler again if you don’t get a refund.

I don’t live far from you, and will certainly not be doing business in that store if that’s how they work.

If it wasn't for"lizdance"you wouldn't have helped me.She is the one who talks to all the right people❤️I long for yesterday when we walked or took the bus downtown and went into individual buildings and payed our phone bill, gas bill, ect. We had a real person we dealt with.Believe me,my $300.00 wouldn't be floating around?like it is today.Imagine having the original receipt in your hand, which I have shared with quite a few people now,and I still have to jump through more hoops.Yes,I know I should probably take some classes to learn how to hit the right buttons and try to catch up to you kids, electronically, but retirement isn't just going on sweet trips and gazing out the window. It's taking care of Grandpa, cooking and cleaning, staying involved in your grandchildren's lives(school,sleepovers,Drs.app......I joined this forum to try ,yet another angle,to straighten out our bill. It's the principal not the $300.00.
I will go back and thank Liz again for her knowledge and taking the time with me.You're lucky to have her on your side.
Gotta go now"it's time to make the donuts"

Thank-you Liz!You are a sweetheart and you add a more personal touch on this site.

Will I get this resolved?Probably not.I've taken the time to read other minor and major problems on here. For such a big and powerful company they sure have a lot of unhappy customers.

Yes,I received yet another case number and will send out my info, once again, but will not hit that button"accept as a solution"until there is one.

I know where that money went and I will never put myself in that situation again.I have On Star in my vehicle and a landline at home.To many bells and whistles on cell phone.Useless for someone like me.

@Domenica1  Thanks.  Keep updating.

They may be slow, but they do the work.  I suspect some sort of overhaul will happen in Winsted as they did screw up.
