Why do I have to pay my bill with a promotion card?

Does anyone know why I have to pay my bill with a promotion code? I've never seen this before and been a customer for 15+ years?! Thx

You don't have to pay your bill with a promotion card, why are you thinking that? You can use a promotion card to pay your bill but it is not required.

That was the only option the system gave me. I checked on the desktop site and app ( both iPhone and iPad) but that was the only option. I even logged off and back on a few times with no improvements. It seems to be working now, so I wonder if it was a system glitch or something? Thx
