Who would pay 52% in surcharges/taxes?

switched 3 lines over from prepaid. $25 per line(brought over my own phones) and $20 for 300mb data...so $95 total.  The surcharges/taxes add up to $16.77 per line or $50.31 total.  Who in their right mind would pay $50 in fees on a $95 bill, %52%?  Is ATT insane?..back to prepaid for me, I just don't understand why anyone would go for the mobile share plans with these crazy surcharges/fees.  I'm in RI..looks like they charge a gross receipts surcharge of $4.32 per line on top of state sales tax of $6.05 per line.

Do people pay these ridiculous fees just because they are getting a subsidized phone?. What a waste of money compared to the prepaid plans..especially those who are light on the data.

Hey theplayer11

Use this to help figure out what they're for, and maybe vote to lower them

The Government love to make money off of telecommunications.

I was with verizon in $79.99 plan. My total surcharges and taxes combined: $6.49 [8.11 %]

Now I switched to ATT and I am in $45 plan. My total surcharges and taxes combined: $17 [37.77 %]
