Updates for AT&T Customers Impacted by Hurricane Matthew

Overall, our network performed well during Hurricane Matthew. In Florida, Virginia and Georgia wireless service has been restored to nearly all affected areas. Some customers may be experiencing issues with their wireline and wireless services in coastal areas due to flooding in NC and SC. AT&T technicians were prepared for storm-related issues and are working to restore service to affected areas as quickly and safely as conditions allow. We are monitoring our network closely and will continue to coordinate with emergency management officials and local utility companies.

Here are some more tech tips to use during severe weather....

The general gist:  Dim your screen, Turn off apps and Text.

  • Get in the habit of tapping your phone’s power key when not in use.
  • Live wallpapers: get rid of them.
  • Services known for their drain on battery life, including Bluetooth, GPS and wifi, should be turned off.
  • Creating a wifi hotspot with your phone also drains the battery.
  • Turn off notifications for unnecessary apps.
  • Delete those that you don’t use, at least as the storm is nearby.
  • Power saver mode helps a phone take battery-saving measures when a phone’s energy drops to a low level.
  • Disable auto updates.
  • Keep your phones charged and pack additional batteries and chargers.
  • Emergency agencies and local media's mobile apps help you track storms.
  • Keep emergency number lists handy.
