New monthly taxes when I got a new phone

About my cell phone plan- I got a new phone and now I see a new $29.21 charge in my bill- state and localtaxes. The sales person said our monthly would go down a little (because we’re buying a cheaper phone). Anyone know about this?

When you buy a new phone on a Next plan, you pay sales tax for the full price of the phone. That is a one time charge. The monthly payment for the phone has no taxes.

Your first bill would include the upgrade fee of $30.  And installments.    There would not be a change in taxes related to your purchase.

I wish that were correct.  I paid full sales tax on purchase, PLUS now being sales taxed on my NEXT installment (this is my first bill reflecting our new phones).  I.e. being taxed double.  Not happy with the prospect of paying double sales tax.
