Mobile share program - splitting with partner

My boyfriend and I of nearly 5 years are separating. We have a mobile share plan. Both have iPhone 6 models. Mine is the 320 number, his 803. My phone is paid off (I think) and contract if up, his is not and still has several months left. I'd like to stop being responsible for his phone and reduce my plan to cover only mine. He may or may not qualify for his own account as he doesn't have as much credit history as I have. What are options available?

None good for you if it's in your name.   You are responsible for the entire account, including paying off his phone if he can't or won't.

It's worth a shot to do a transfer of billing responsibility to him anyway, as an existing customer it may go well.

Transfer of billing responsibility will mean he will have to chose a new plan, the installments go with the line number.  You can keep your plan if you want.
