Is the AT&T Visa Reward Card a SCAM?

Is the AT&T Visa Reward Card a SCAM? I initiated a Directv, AT&T internet, and AT&T telephone bundle with the guarantee of a $150 AT&T Visa reward card. I did not receive the reward card as guaranteed. I contacted the Customer Care Reward Center and was informed I would not be receiving the reward card because the 120 day threshold had expired. When I initiated the aforementioned service, I was not informed of a 120 day threshold. I received monthly bills from AT&T, but I did not receive any correspondence related to the AT&T Visa reward card. Therefore, I would like to know if the guarantee of an AT&T Visa Reward Card a SCAM? Did AT&T have any intention of honoring the guarantee?

Kansas33,

I initiated a two year service contract with AT&T which now appears to be null and void. As previously stated, l did not receive the $150 Visa reward card as guaranteed. When I initiated the AT&T bundle service I was guaranteed a $150 Visa reward card and I was not informed of a 120 day threshold. I received monthly billing statements, but I did not receive any correspondence related to the AT&T visa reward card. AT&T cleary voided my two year contract when they failed to fulfill the terms of the agreement. Therefore, I am sure you will agree that I am no longer bound by this contract.

I just had the same thing happened to me!! This is unethical on the sales rep part. I just got the letter in the mail today. I went online to accept it and there is only $100!! I called in and spoke with a supervisor who stated she only saw $100...I’m canceling the service and will deal with breaking the contract. I only accepted the service because of the incentives (I was going to use that to pay the bill)..DONE!!

FOLLOW UP...I called back in and request to cancel my service because I reviewed my installation email again and realized I’m still within the 14 days cancellation window. The rep stated she saw the $100 Reward but not the additional $300 and could only go by the notes. I gave her the supervisors name/number of whom I spoke with in sales prior to agreeing to the promotion and she just continued to remind me of the $100. She offered to backdate my cancellation after trying to threaten me with the early termination fee in which I don’t owe. I’m calling the competitor on Monday then will cancel so I won’t be without service. I’m sure some of these calls have been recorded by the supervisors but the unethical behavior continues.

I've been taken also with the promise of the gift cards. Haven't received a thing but have this big bill to pay my previous provider. I get tired to being lied to by consumers just to get your business.

In my case I actually received a letter congratulating me on my Visa reward card.  When I tried to claim it, I was only offered Wi-Fi boosters - no card.  Phone Rep won't do anything for me.

Yes, it is a scam. AT&T's corporate office knew exactly what they were doing when they created this program and their "180 day" requirement.

Their sales reps told people to wait for the rewards cards in the mail. After waiting, your offer would be expired. AT&T knows what they did and are doing and they have no intention of making it right.

I have now canceled my automated billing.

[Edited to comply with Guidelines]

Oh, and now that I canceled my automated billing... I'll turning the equipment in and pay my balance EXCEPT FOR $200.

And I'll spend the rest of my life bad mouthing AT&T for the sick corporate leaders and marketing the have.

Almost forgot to mention... my "up to" 100mps internet speed only clocks in at 17mps. Got ripped off on that one too.

You are sick AT&T. You know this is a scam with garbage technicalities you created. People did what they were told which was to wait for it in the mail.

You are sick people to play along with this horrible scam.

You WILL pay me the $200 as I am already collecting it right now.

In the end, it will cost you a lot more.

I hate a company that lies and tricks people.

I was scammed too. I was also told I would receive 300.00 in visa gift cards in the mail. They never came. I happened to be on the phone with direct tv today and asked why I have not received my gift cards. After 2 hours of beginning transferred around, I have been told my gift cards are expired and they will not do anything to resolve this problem. They said they sent me a letter( that I never received) I asked did you sent this letter certified mail? They said no.  I said how do I know you actually sent me a letter? Or how do you know it actually got delivered to my mailbox? They had no response to that. They need to be made to pay out what was promised to all of their customers.

I received gift cards after I forwarded a complaint letter to the HQ office.
