I had to call my daughter in the US due to an emergency at home. I am in Aruba. We both have att and iPhone. I was connected to Wifi. I didn't think I would have to pay extra for this call but someone said I will be charged extra. Is this true?
If you activated wifi calling in the US, and your phone used wifi, no.
If it connected to cellular, yes, very possibly. We recommend people turn on airplane mode, then wifi so there is no error.
