Cancelation of phone account

I have two phone lines in my account. One is of my son but he has a motorcycle accident and is unconscious and the recuperation from a brain injury takes a lot of time. He would not be usding this phine oviously. How can I return the phone abd avoid thoses charges, I need that money for his recovery. [Per Guidelines:  Keep it Relevant and Appropriate]. AT&T has provide a resolution to this matter? I can provide all the evidence of the accident and his current condition.
