Access for Smartphone 4G LTE w/ Visual VM
What is this and is this an option or something we HAVE to have? The plan we have is supposed to be $145 a month (the mobile-share 10GB plan), but then we're being charged $40 a month for this on EACH phone in addition to the $145!

@ ACE - Expert. Ok I'll let the FCC explain it to me. I filed a complaint with them earlier today.

@Vorlock The FCC isn’t going to explain anything to you. Your complaint will get a response from ATT, not the FCC. Hopefully they can explain it to you.

Nope.
Nope, it's breaking the cost down into two numbers.
It's only an issue if you don't read the breakdown of costs.
Think of it as renting a car for $35 a day, but they break the bill down to a $25 charge and a $10 charge, which EQUALS $35.
Or think of it phone service for $35 which gets broken down to $25 and $10 (still equals $35). But $35 a line would be $70 for two lines, this way it's $25 for service and $10 a line (STILL $35 for one line) but only $45 for two lines.

Postpaid plans are ala’carte. This makes it fair for everyone. Charge for data plan, which can be large or small. Then each device has a charge to use it.
If I have more, I pay more.
Lets say you have a 1 gig plan with 2 lines. Total plan $75
I choose a 10 gig plan, 2 lines, I pay more, $140
Lets say we both have 10 gigs, but I have 3 phones and a tablet. $100+20+20+20+10 = $170
You have 1 line and one phone, so you pay $100 + 20 = $120.
It’s works with equipment too.
If we have equal plans and equal number of phones, but I Buy a note 9 with installments on my bill, and you Buy a $300 phone on installments, I’m going to pay more each month.
By the way.... carriers have run postpaid service plans this way from the very first cell carrier and plan. Don’t you think the FCC would have stopped it if it weren’t a completely legit practice like 30 years ago? 🤔

Plus Multi Line. Last time I checked unlimited meant exactly that,
unlimited.
It took a 108 years to eliminate the Spanish American War Tax on
telephones, so 30 years is nothing. It use to be if you used a 56k dial up
modem, you were charged more than if you used a 28k modem. Times change,
technology changes, fees change.

Unlimited means no overages by the way. Not unlimited speed. You can still use data if your get de prioritized. Its just slower than heck but its still unlimited data.

You brought up “unlimited meant exactly that, unlimited.” When no carrier offers completely unlimited, unfettered data plan. @GLIMMERMAN76 Responded referring to reprioritization which can effect a line after 22 gigs, and may mean slow speed during congestion.
Unlimited plus hotspot is the only thing ‘throttled ‘. On that plan it’s capped at 10 gigs.
“Unlimited include all fees.” Um.... no. Unlimited means no overage charges no matter how much you use. It has nothing to do with “fees”.
