@ATTKevin has been with the community since February 2016 and is quite possibly the coolest person to ever join. He is amazing, talented, smart, witty, and absolutely did not write his own bio to be included in this event. For AT&T, Kevin serves as a Mobility subject matter expert, manages the team of community responders, and works with an amazing team to develop the community engagement strategy. When Kevin is not being the greatest contributor to every post he touches, he enjoys video games, music, and sharing lists of things he enjoys outside of work on the internet. Finally, Kevin is 100% here for help and support; he encourages you to not be a stranger and to reach out anytime!

I love everything Apple iOS and if there is something I don’t know, I will find the answer. I also have a passion to help people. When I am not living the AT&T dream, I am into custom trucks, the Sounders and the Seattle Seahawks.

@pgrey used to write lots of code but now primarily does systems design/engineering and Project Management.  He and his family enjoy riding road bikes, skiing, snowboarding  and backpacking.  .He joined the AT&T Community Forums in February, 2008, and has earned 14 badges, received 105 kudos and authored 70+ Accepted Solutions.  He accepted the Award for Community Excellence in 2016, and was ACE of the Month in November, 2016.

 TimPic.jpg

@ATTTimCS has been with the community since February 2016, but has over 15 years of experience with AT&T overall.  In addition to getting to talk with amazing community members each day, Tim’s favorite part of his role is learning.  Every day he learns something new because of a great questions someone in the community has asked.  Outside of AT&T, he is a proud father of 2 daughters, and spends most of his time camping and teaching his oldest how to drive……(gulp).  Tim is a strong believer in “It Can Wait”, especially with his teen driver. Understanding the 22GB “limit” this seems to be the number one confusing issue with Unlimited Plus.

Once you hit 22GB, your device may slow down IF the tower is congested, the important thing is that you will speed back up when it gets uncongested.  There are people who use 100+GB per month and say this is not an issue for them and they’ve never noticed or the few times they’ve noticed, it’s not a big deal for many many people.

Keep in mind that it NEVER is a hard cap (many call this a throttle, but it's not a hard throttle)!

That generally means you are slowed down NO MATTER WHAT.

This would be an issue if your tower is an very often congested tower (say you live next to a 100,000 seat stadium, but I bet you get awesome speeds the rest of the time.

Also, your up to 10GB Tethering/hotspot does contribute towards the 22GB.

Mobile app streaming for DirecTV, DirecTV Now or U-verse (on a mobile device) does not count towards the 22GB limit. But once you hit that limit, if you are slowed down, it’ll affect that streaming too.

FYI, this is per device! If one line hits 22GB, this only affects that line. If the whole group hits 22GB total, this does nothing., it's only per line...

Are questions about the Directv App part of this discussion?

So @ATTKevin and @ATTTimCS

Since ATT is promoting these BYOP offers to unlimited customers are we finally going to see wifi calling and enhanced LTE services for BYOP?

2nd question

People bringing these phones like the one plus 5.  Nice device but for some reason ATT's system only sees the phones as 3g only when they do have all atts LTE bands what is att doing to support these folks?  I mean there is the IMEI work around which you use a IMEI from a ATT branded phone and you will get LTE but that is not a fix.

I keep getting an error when trying to sign up for HBO Go with my Unlimited Data account.  The error happens at the point I try to verify my mobile number.  The system keeps returning that I am not eligible and wants me to upgrade to unlimited data even though I already have that plan.  I have spoken with both Wireless and DTV Now support and no one can fix this issue.   the same error occurs on all five lines n my account.  This is terribly frustrating and leads me to believe this is a bait and switch tactic.

The error is not with my account setup.  This is a software glitch that ATT refuses to resolve within their system.

Sure, ask away. Worse case is no one knows the answer.

actually it is a throttle but JUST for the time the tower is congested....  The biggest problem is marketing it that way...  Then like you also said is the marketing about the 22gb PER LINE.....

@Gary L
Thanks for the great breakdown of how the 22GB threshold works. You nailed it on the head!

Hi @Asik405,

We definitely are here to help in any way we can.  Can you advise the DTV app question you had?  Is it related to Unlimited data?

Thanks so much.
