Hello @happymomhappy!
That’s a great question! Here is what happens when your postpaid account is switched to prepaid.
Your deposit is automatically released to your old account 14 days after making the switch. If there is an outstanding balance owed on the account, it will first go towards paying it off. Any remaining credit left will be automatically refunded as a check, 60 days from the date of the conversion when the final bill is processed and sent.
I hope this answer your question, and thank you for using the Community Forums!

Good morning @happymomhappy!
I’m glad my previous answer clarified things for you; allow me to explain the other questions as well!
You did the right thing by paying your more recent statement; most account bills in advance, but some older account still bill in arrears. For this reason, it’s possible you were still paying for the service you received right before the conversion to prepaid.
However, in order to confirm if this was the case, I will be sending you a private message to your Forums inbox, asking for more information. This way I can get you a definitive answer.
As far as why your account showing as cancelled online, this is technically what happens when your account gets converted to prepaid. A news one is created as your Gophone activates, and you can access it by visiting this link!
Please let me know if you have any other questions, and have a fantastic day!
