That is a very interesting question. Let's check look into it!
If you are receiving or using iMessage/Advance Messaging or a 3rd party source, these would usually not appear on your MyAT&T log history but data usage. These would also be the same when using social media apps such as Twitter message, Facebook Messages etc.
