Hello,
I want to port my existing AT&T wireless number to Google Voice, then get a new number with AT&T. It seems once I start the port with Google, my contract with AT&T is cancelled. But I just want to stay with AT&T and get a new number on my cell phone.
Has anyone done this before? Any tips or tricks to make it seemless?
Thanks,
Eric

Hello Eric, welcome to the forum.
You're right, when you port a number to a another carrier your account gets canceled, there is no way around it unfortunately. However, if you just want a different number, you can change your number, no port necessary.
I hope this helps you, please let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for posting,
Dmitriy

@ATTDmitriyCM what happens if I just want to port a single number from my ATT account but I have a total of 5 numbers with ATT. I'm assuming the process won't cancel ALL my numbers and ATT contract correct?
