How to pay off phone under family plan directly through AT&T instead of through family

Hello!  The current situation is that my wife's phone needs to be paid off in order for us to request an unlock code and transfer it to another carrier.  Her phone is currently on her family's Next plan, but we wish to pay off the phone directly through AT&T instead of paying her family to pay AT&T.  It's also important to note that neither myself nor my wife have an AT&T account, and if possible, would prefer to keep it that way.  What is the best way that we can do this?

Not possible unless she has access to the account. Paying off a Next plan can only be done through the account.

No.  The phone installments are on the family account.  If you have access to the account, you can pay off the phone by managing her line.  Payoff with debit or credit card.

If you don’t have access to the account, sit dow with who does so you can pay off directly with your credit card.
