Hangouts and MyAtt app

The messages you send on hangouts are they seen on the detailed part of the usage of the phone bill? My father says they are under "data transfer" since it says received/sent. I just wanted to know.

Hangouts is a Google app. It has nothing to with ATT and will not show up on your phone bill. It uses wifi or mobile data. The mobile data use will be in the data usage information but will not get identified as Hanguts data.
