Don't want to trade in my phone for upgrade??

Hi, my contract is up in two months and I need to upgrade my phone, because suprise it doesn't work properly anymore. SO I want to upgrade but I don't want to trade in the phone I have now. Do I have to trade it in to upgrade?? OR can I just upgrade????

You only need to trade in your phone if your are on the NEXT program and only to the trade in payment, but to trade it in, your phone must be in good physical shape and in good working condition. If your phone is paid in full, you do not have to trade in your phone.

If you buy from a store the At&t costumer care representative will over ride the upgrade trade-in on the new contract. I got to keep my LG Vista and not having to trade it in. On the document for my LG V20 I bought on the Next plan it shows upgrade override.

If it is on AT&T Next plan then just payoff the remaining installments online (and keep the phone) and process a new upgrade.
