Contract Termination

If I join AT&T as a new customer, will you be able to terminate my existing contract with my current cellular provider, even if I do not bring my number with me?

No, only porting your number causes the account to be closed. If you want a new phone number, you will need to call your current provider and cancel your line with them.

Or you can port your number to close your current account and then get a new number but that will incur a number change charge.

If your asking if ATT will pay off your previous carrier,

Yes and No

You must pay your own bills.   ATT has a reimbursement promotion that will reimburse the cost of your smartphones only.  There are strict requirements.

Please read all the fine print.

Switch offers help you break even on phones,  if you MUST change carriers.  Switching is always expensive and the offer does not cover all the costs.
