Change Plan Without Losing Upgrade?

Question

I've tried searching the forums but can't find anything.

I need to change my plan and am eligible for an upgrade. I've been saving this upgrade for the next released iPhone. If I change my plan now and do not select a new phone with it, will I lose this upgrade or can it be saved for future use?

@Anonymous is right, changing your plan does not effect your upgrade. However, there are no 2 year contract upgrades anymore so your upgrade may not mean much. Being upgrade eligible only means you qualify for the Next installment plan. You are going to pay the same full price for the new iphone whether on Next or pay in full up front. You can of course buy a new phone at any time and you do not have to buy from ATT.
