Can't unlock phone with 2 years on AT&T

Hi,

I am trying to unlock an iPhone 6. The phone was on contract on AT&T for around 2 years, then gathered dust in a drawer for a year or so. Now I can't unlock the phone:

>Current status - Denied
>We can't unlock this device because it hasn't been active for at least six months of paid service.
>You can submit a new request after six months of paid service.

This can't be correct. The phone has had years of paid service. Can you help me to unlock the phone please?

Thanks,

Michael

Have you tried requesting the unlock as a non-customer? Have you recently added it to a pre-paid account?

Thanks, unlocking as a non-customer worked. Sorry for the stupid question, it was actually a few months ago that I tried, and I don't think that was an option back then. I should have tried again before posting. Thanks again!
