AT&T Wireless HomePhone (WF720) with AT&T Phone model SL82118.

I'm using the AT&T Wireless HomePhone (WF720) with AT&T Phone model SL82118.  When the SL82118 phone message answering is on it will record the message but when the caller hangs up there are a series of beeps that continue to be recorded unitl the 4 minute limit is reached. In other words it doesn't seem to know that the phone call has ended.  Is there anyone who has a similar problem, is there any fix for this? Thanks

ibray,

Hello and welcome to the forum. I believe that device is equipped with an answering machine, plus the phone you are plugging in has an answering machine. It's possible that both machines are activating, of another answering machine in the house is activating.

I am having a problem with the same model - 82118.  Recently, the caller's voice is not audible while they are leaving a message, although their message is recorded and can be played back later.  Did we unintentionally change the settings, or is the answering machine failing?

We are here to help, @Davidfixer.

Just for clarification, is this regarding digital home phone or traditional landline?
